Debriefing process under review
CAA reps have been meeting with Alberta Infrastructure to discuss issues related to
the debriefing process. Together we are working to enhance the system
for the benefit of both the client and the consultants. In the coming
months we expect to see some positive changes with more clarity around
the evaluation criteria as well as more constructive and detailed
feedback provided to the consultants. We will keep our members informed
as to the progress of these discussions. Thank you to those of you who
provided valuable input to assist us in this process!

Design Build and Design Bid Build advisory committees initiated
Alberta Infrastructure has established two short term
working groups and
invited CAA to participate: Design Build Advisory Committee, and Design
Bid Build Advisory Committee. The purpose of these
groups is to look at
the process and contract conditions used by Infrastructure with their
DB and DBB projects. The RFQ and RFP processes as well as the form of
RAIC 6 (and supplementary conditions) will be reviewed with a view to
identifying areas for improvement. |

Infrastructure Partners Conference Follow Up
Thank you to all those firms who sent representatives to the second
annual Infrastructure Partners Conference held at the Edmonton Expo
Centre November 14 - 15th. The total number of attendees was 410, with a
much stronger showing of architects this year compared to last.
Overall conference evaluations showed 90% of respondents felt the
conference was either good or excellent. We received some very
constructive feedback and are looking forward to continuing to refine
the format, programming and venue components so that this annual
conference can continually grow and offer value to attendees.
The CAA is an active partner on the conference planning committee, so
if you want to have an impact on how this conference is delivered, please let us know!
