For LARGE and EXTRA LARGE consulting firms, membership in the Consulting Architects of Alberta is first and foremost an opportunity to show leadership.

The organization is mandated to represent the business voice of consulting architects. This means advocacy on behalf of the membership with government and client groups. Through building a positive business environment for the private practice of architecture in Alberta, the organization hopes to facilitate continued prosperity in difficult economic times.

But we cannot do it alone . . .

Be Represented . . .

  • As a large firm, you have more regular access to major client groups than medium or small-sized firms. By joining the Consulting Architects of Alberta you can bring these connections and your valuable perspective to the association and help us to leverage them for the benefit of the profession overall.
  • The collective voice is stronger – and can be heard in ways that single voices cannot. With your support the Consulting Architects of Alberta can, on behalf of the profession as a whole, enter into a dialogue with government agencies and clients groups to influence decisions made at the highest levels.
  • Anonymity is sometimes desirable.  Even for large and extra large firms it can be difficult to disagree with or question the practices of those in a position to award your firm with work! Stepping forward to express concerns directly to client groups might very well place your firm in an uncomfortable position. The Consulting Architects of Alberta can provide a buffer for you – speaking to common concerns - thereby protecting your anonymity on sensitive issues.
  • The Consulting Architects of Alberta is creating linkages with other trade associations and bodies, thus ensuring that the voice of consulting architects is heard throughout the building and design industry.

Learn, Share and Influence . . .

  • Through the member’s only website and other means, the Consulting Architects of Alberta will offer its members access to valuable information, tools and references.
  • As a large firm you may have access to perspectives and information that your colleagues in smaller firms do not. The association will offer a means for architects to share marketplace knowledge with one another, reducing the impact of “information silos” that can diminish the power and effectiveness of the profession as a whole.
  • Participation in committees and forums gives you an opportunity to not only share information but also to make a positive contribution to the future of your profession. Through the Consulting Architects of Alberta firms of ALL sizes will be able to have an impact on the future of the business environment in Alberta.

Get Connected . . .

  • As a principle or senior partner at a large or extra-large firm you likely have plenty of opportunities for networking with major client representatives – but what about for your staff?  Wise succession planning mandates that your firm needs to build the capacity of its mid-level and junior staff as well. The Consulting Architects of Alberta can offer opportunities for you to introduce your staff to client representatives in informal settings, thereby continuing the relationships between your firm and key players in the marketplace.
  • Through members’ only events you can also connect with colleagues and pave the way for future collaboration.
  • If you are open to becoming a mentor and sharing your experience and expertise with junior members of the profession, the association would be pleased to coordinate this for you.

Additional Member Benefits

In addition to the above-noted benefits of joining with your colleagues to support your profession, the following specific benefits are offered to members of the Consulting Architects of Alberta:
  • Discounted member rates for events such as mixers and seminars
  • Member directory on public website – information can be customized by each member, providing an opportunity to profile your firm for maximum business promotion.
  • Framed membership certificate – to proudly display in your office – letting clients know that you are committed to excellence in the business side of the profession.
  • Add-on benefits – over time we will be developing additional benefits as our association grows. If you have ideas on elements that would be of benefit to you, we would love to hear them!
